Tithe: Is It For Us Today?

Jesus declared that ‘God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life’ ( John 3.16). Going by the words of Jesus Christ we should not in any way question God’s love for us.
1 Peter 5.7 says ‘’ we are to cast all our cares on Him because he cares for us’’ The question that bothers many people is whether God’s care for us extends to our financial affairs.
Well, the bible says that God’s plan for us is a plan of peace.(Jeremiah 29.11). In other words, it is a comprehensive plan that covers all areas of our lives including our financial affairs.
In implementing God’s financial plan for our lives today, what is the place of the tithe? Is the tithe for us today under the New Testament, and what role does it have in God’s plan to meet our financial needs?
If the tithe is for us today, why did Jesus speak relatively little about it in the gospels, and why the apparent silence of most New Testament writers concerning it?
