The nature and character of God is largely a mystery until we see Him unveiled in the person of Jesus Christ.
John 1.18 says
No one has seen God at anytime. The only begotten son, who is in the bosom of the Father,He has declared Him.
The New American Standard Bible puts it this way:
No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him
Jesus came to reveal to the world who God really is.
Hence if we want to see God’s attitude toward us we should look at Jesus.
IF we want to see the will of God in action we should look at Jesus.
In John 6.38 Jesus said
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of Him who sent Me.
Jesus was the will and attitude of God in manifestation.
what is the Father’s attitude toward sinners? He loves them and in Christ Jesus has offered His forgiveness to all sinners. It is up to us to receive His forgiveness.
Jesus’ ministry of healing the sick reveals that sin and sickness are connected and they are not the will of the God for anybody.
God does not want anybdoy living in sin.He does not want anybody sick either.
Jesus forgave sinners of their sin and healed them of their sickness. That is the will of God for everybody.
Remember the story of the paralytic man brought to Jesus, carried on his bed? You will find it in Luke 5.17-25
The first thing Jesus told the man was ” Man, your sins are forgiven”
The pharisees and the scribes who were present wondered in their heart how a man could declare forgiveness for another man’s sin.
Verse 23:
when Jesus perceived their thoughts,He answered and said to them, ”why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you’ or to say ”rise up and walk? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”- He said to paralyzed, ” I say to you arise, take up your bed, and go to your house”
Jesus demonstrated God’s willingness to forgive this man by healing him of His sickness.
That is the nature and character of God revealed when it comes to sin and sickness.
God wants all men to receive forgiveness for their sins and healing for their sickness. He sent Jesus to make that available to all persons in this world.
Psalm 103.3 gives us the connection of God’s forgiveness and healing.
It says:
Who forgives all your iniquities
Who heals all your diseases.
Go over that Psalm many times until the reality of it soaks into your consciousness.
How many of your sins does God forgive? It says: ”all your sins”
Right now forgiveness is available in Christ Jesus for whatever wrong you have done.Jesus already took on Himself the punishment for all our sins at the cross.
Isaiah 53.6 speaking about the work of Christ Jesus at the cross says
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned every man to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all
God has laid on Jesus the punishment for all our sins and that is why when we go to God for forgiveness, we can receive His forgiveness.
Ephesians 1.7
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness if sins, according to the riches of His grace
In Christ we have forgivess for our sins which opens the way to receive healing for all our sicknesses.
That is why Psalm 103.3 can says
Who forgives ALL your iniquities
Who Heals ALL your diseases
How many of your diseases? All of them. With God there are no incurable conditions.Healing is available to all, for all conditions.
We can see that in demonstration in the healing ministry of Jesus.
Matthew 9.35
Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people
American standard Bible says
He, that is, Jesus went about ”healing every manner of sickness and every manner of disease among the people”
This same Jesus is present today right where you are, to not only forgive you of all your sins but to demonstrate that forgiveness by healing you of whatever condition afflicts you.He has not changed.
Hebrews 13.8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
